Sadly, after 9yrs of welcoming visitors to explore the Preseli Hills on horseback, we have reached the heartbreaking decision to close the pony trekking side of our business. We understand that this news will disappoint our customers, but the current political and economic climate has forced our closure due to our continually increasing overheads, in particular Pembrokeshire County Council licencing costs and Public Liability insurance costs. This coupled with a significant reduction in Tourist numbers visiting West Wales, makes our Seasonal, tourist-dependent, pony trekking business financially unviable and unsustainable.
Some of our beloved horses and cobs are for sale, and we will offer a few for part or full loan (to remain and be kept here). We will also have a limited number of DIY livery spaces available, so if you are interested please email anita@preseliponytrekking.com
About us
The area is beautiful wild moorland with craggy peaks, magnificent views, epic scenery and ancient stone circles. Wild ponies roam freely and Birds of Prey hunt overhead. This is the ancient, magical land of Celtic mythology..... King Arthur, The Mabinogion, Stonehenge and the Druids. The Stonehenge Bluestones actually originated from the Hill overlooking our farm.
We are a fully licensed and insured Pony Trekking Centre, situated in the heart of the magical Preseli Hills, in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Our escorted riding routes follow ancient tracks across open hills and moorland, amid spectacular scenery, stone circles, wild ponies and birds of prey.
We provide the riding hats and we cater for all sizes and abilities from age 4yrs and older, with a maximum weight limit of 15 stone (95kg).
Ride duration can be from 30 minutes up to an all day ride. No experience necessary for the 1hr Introduction to Riding Combo session and we lead beginners if required. 2hr Hill treks require some previous riding experience, and for the more competent rider we offer half day and full day Rides.
All Ride leaders are level 3 First Aid trained and carry First Aid kits and mobile phones.
